Tear Drops
I saw your tears
Drop frozen on snow-painted ground
by chilly winter winds
to wait your heart’s delight.
I hear my feet crunch ice and snow
in search of slow burning wood.
The Absent Guest
In search of lunch,
an eagle wings sunrise sun-rays.
He whooshes down upon
a rabbit skirting fast,
to miss an early noontime feast.
Tomorrow is another day.
After six decades as an English teacher and educational publisher, Jim Bellanca unretired to write poetry.
