A Bad Weather Friend
At first glance you appear to just want to hold my hand while the storm rages above. But you never walk barefoot in the sand.
Never stay to watch soft clouds float in the cool blue sky.
No, baby.
You only want me when I’m bleeding.
You’re my bad weather friend.
Olivia
You spoke of impending loss.
Warm sand and azure waves
beneath me.
A far away voice breaking up.

I was struck at the right time by this piece. Although it's simple to lose motivation midway through a project, your reminder to stick with it is quite effective. Writers must persevere through the middle to discover the core of their work, just as poetry book publishers appreciate the layers and depth that come with revision. Thank you for your frank and supportive remarks.
